The other day I was looking for a truck but wasn't sure what it looked like, if they would only have told me to follow my nose I would have found it a lot faster. I opened the door and bam! It hit me all of a sudden, the sweet smell of perfume multiplied by 20. What do I mean by that you say? Well let the following image do the talking.<br />
<br />
(Note - Blogger will not upload images right now but as soon as it can I will upload them.)<br />
<br />Coming back from parking a car in the lot I see one of the Service Advisers texting and just standing by another pick up truck. He calls me and asks me to please take it to the Service Drive and I am only too happy to comply as it is part of my job to do just that, I climb in and he starts laughing. See, we offer our customers a complimentary car wash but we do not do the vehicle's interiors, the reason he was laughing was because the inside of the cab was filthy and smelled almost like poop. He told me that he was not about to get in a drive it. Well, as I said before, it is part of my job and someone has to do it.<br />
<br />
I have gotten in a few cars that are really dirty but just the other day I had to go get one and as soon as I opened the door the foul smell hit me, The car was like a dump inside, I immediately got in lowered all windows and drove it really fast to the Service Drive as I held my breath. I asked the Service Adviser to whom did this vehicle belonged and he pointed to this very regular looking woman pushing a baby in a stroller. I would have never paired the car and the girl together. <br />
<br />
By the same token, there have some gems come in as well. Cars that are extremely clean, that smell good, that are well taken care of by their owners, cars that really show the pride of ownership of those who drive them.<br />
<br />
To some of us a car is an extension of ourselves, to some it's just a machine meant to transport you. But think about it, after buying a house what other purchase is going to be as expensive as buying your vehicle. How many people have a car payment that exceeds $500.00 a month and that will be paying that amount monthly for the next six years. I say yes, to a certain extent it is a good and wise choice to pamper and take care of your ride, it is not really an investment that will yield profits but and investment that will yield many memories as it takes you from point A to point B every day.Josehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17057386419079395375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29823358.post-51053629456449627112013-03-22T22:23:00.000-07:002013-03-22T22:23:25.396-07:00It The Cars Could Talk...One, two, three, four, five six, seven, eight, nine, tenting, eleventing, twelvting, thirteen... Oh heck who's counting anymore, it's just that since I started working I must have driven close to a thousand cars, I've driven big trucks, little cars, and everything in between, automatics and standards, some clean, and some very clean, some dirty, and some very dirty, and even a couple that OMG and then after that no comment. <br />
<br />
Once my lil sister told me that she couldn't understand why some of us love our cars so much, she said that to her it was just a vehicle meant to transport her from point A to Point B, yet driving the customer's cars at the dealership is like tapping into other people's memories.<br />
<br />
For instance, this guy has been there two or three times and he has pictures of his kids covering his dashboard, it is funny how I don't remember a particular car until I get in and seat and then all of a sudden it hits me that I have already driven that car and have seen those pictures of the smiling kids.<br />
<br />
There is this woman that has taken her six month old Challenger about five or six times always stating that she sees bubbles in the paint, that her custom wheel makes a noise, that her engine is not clean enough, that the cleaning machine we used put new scratches in the pain and so on. So... the other day, the dealership offered to buy her out of her car. The car stayed at the dealership overnight while she saw other new Challengers but the next day I saw her drive away in her own black Challenger. Then just yesterday, she came back again with a new complain. I came to the conclusion that she just loves visiting the dealership's service area and likes for everyone to admire her shinny black car.<br />
<br />
Then there is the guy that had a nice late model truck, when services are performed at the dealership we offer a complimentary car wash, so the other day I customer came to pick his truck up and I went to get it for him. The truck looked nice and shinny but when I opened the door I was surprised to see that it was very dirty but it smell good, OK let me rephrase that "It smelled good" as there must have been over thirty air fresheners hanging from his car's parking brake and turn signal handle. <br />
<br />
Another customer came in the other day and I saw that the invoice total for services rendered was close to $700.00, I made a comment that I would be upset if I brought my car in to be fixed and my wallet left $700.00 in the hole. The advisor replied, "Oh there was nothing wrong with the car, everything we did was preventive maintenance. Hummm and to think I have owned my Mustang 13 years now and only twice I have had my brakes changed, and oil changes maybe once a year.<br />
<br />
Every car tells me a story during that one minute I am driving it from the service drive to the back lot.<br />

I have come to the realization that without Him nothing is easy.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I can't believe that it has been three years since I joined the choir but it has and serving in that ministry has been very rewarding, the music, the songs were the instrument that pulled me back to church but listening to the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ throuh the scriptures is what keeps me coming back. So much to learn.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
We are just one week away from Holy Week usually a busy time for us as a choir and we are preparing as best we can for the upcoming bilingual masses in which we will consolidate members from all the different choirs and make one big choir.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
This Sunday for the second time since I joined the choir I will go up to the ambo to sing the Psalm. Something about facing the congregation makes it at first sort of a nerve wrecking experience but after the first verse things get easier. I will be singing Psalm 22 - <em>"Dios mio, Dios mio, porque me has abandonado"</em> "My God, My God, why have you abandoned me". I sang this when I first joined three years ago but I did not go up to the ambo and sang it from where I stood in the choir area. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The Gregorian chant in Latin is making a comeback and I think it is great to bring something from the past into our present. It's like learning another language through song. I for one welcome it back when sang in the liturgies.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
I know I have become a stronger person because my faith has grown too. When dealing with adversity I know I am not walking along thus making it easier to deal with whatever comes my way. <br />

<br />
The destination for now was just number in an avenue that was about an hour and a half away from where I was. Working at a local dealership as a lot attendant has proven to be to a certain point exciting, the reality is that most days things are dull and routine but once in a while you get an asigment that is a little bit out of the ordinary, at least for this lot attendant.<br />
<br />
I was given a task of going through some stacks of paper to identify some codes and numbers and what not but it just so happens that just yesterday my eye glasses fell to the foorl and the frame brolke. The easy solution was to go to the pharmacy and buy me some reading glasses so I could function, visualy that is. So... I tried these glasses that made everything far very clear for me and I could read letters easily if they were a decent size so I bought them and went to work.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to today and me being given the task, turns out the letters in those papers were so small they blurred out so I told my manager that it was going to be a problem for me to read them. He then assigned my co-worker the job and I got to cover for him a a shuttle driver.<br />
<br />
So at 3:00 p.m. I hear that I need to pick up a couple from out of town in Maricopa and to bring them down to the dealership as their truck was ready. In the meantime I drove some customers to their house and picked up another one which made my departure for Maricopa late. It was 3:30 p.m. when I got on the freeway.<br />
<br />
I had heard of the town of Maricopa but had never been there so I entered the address on my phone's GPS and started blindly following the instructions which to date have only failed me once and not by much. The round trip was to be about 110 miles and in heavy traffic I just hoped I would make it back before closing time which on this day was at 6:00 p.m.<br />
<br />
Took me forever to get there, not knowing the destination made it for a long trip. It took me almost an hour and a half to get there, of course I was driving in the middle of rush hour. As I took the last turns in some dusty desert roads in the middle of nowhere I saw a man at the end of the street and I hoped he was the person I was picking up. <br />
<br />
Yes, I was at the correct place and the man politely asked me to wait for a little bit as he went inside to call his wife. Poor guy was getting nervous as it was getting late but I assured him the trip back would be faster since we could use the carpool lane, I said we might make it back by 6:00 p.m. <br />
<br />
Turned out the couple were Canadian here on vacation, their future plans are to become "snow birds" as they are tired of the cold British Colombia winters and long for a warm place to spend their future winters. They drove their truck with their trailer which serves as sleeping quarters and to keep them company their two dogs made the trip with them., this is how they do their vacation. They told me that Maricopa offers plenty of space for their horses and dogs to run around, they have lived all their lives in a simple country way and so for them the city is a place to stay away from.<br />
<br />
So many stories were swapped in this one hour commute and when I finally delivered them at the dealership we fell like we had known each other for some time. Both the man and his wife thanked me and told me they appreciated my safe driving. They said it was nice to take the scenery without worrying about reading maps or taking wrong exits. We shook hands, said good bye and they went in to see their advisor to pick up their truck and I went in to punch out to go home.<br />

OK, it is getting closer now and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Of course the stores began the season this year as soon as Halloween passed but the Christmas Season has actually not even started yet. One thing many people forget is that December 25th is the first day of Christmas and the Christmas season continues for 40 days until Candle mass, yet on December 26th you see the Christmas trees aligned on the street ready to be picked up by the trash collectors.</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
I remember when I was a kid living in Mexico we never had a Christmas tree at our house but I do remember my aunt putting up a very elaborate Nativity set every single year. She always told me that this should be done on Christmas Eve but she cheated and on December 16th the first day of the “<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Posadas</st1:city></st1:place>” she would put it up, then kept it until at least January 6th the day of the Three Wise Men.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
These days we start celebrating Christmas too early and don’t pay attention to Advent (I for one love the Christmas Season and want to extend it as long as I can and I too have become a culprit in this practice), but let me remind you that the season of Advent is one of preparation for us to receive Christmas and should not be ignored.</div>

What to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon? Well considering we were already showered and fed as my mom and my lil sis came to visit earlier I thought I would show Abby what 1.5 million lights wrapped around trees, palm trees, and even buildings would look like on the yearly biggest block party in Historic Downtown Glendale. Yes, 16 blocks of Historic Downtown Glendale get the sparkling treatment for the delight of millions of people that come to visit from November 23 until January 12. Welcome to Glendale Glitters!<br />
<br />
On our way over to Glendale Glitters we noticed that the Tanger Outlets are already open. As we exited the freeway a line of cars wrapping around the entrance to Westgate had formed already, then again it was still Black Friday weekend so it was obvious people would be flocking the brand new shopping center. For us, that will be a future trip to go and explore and probably blow some moula.<br />
<br />

<br />
As we got to Historic Glendale I expected to have a hard time finding a free parking space ($10.00 prime parking signs are posted all over the place) but luck was on my side and we found a nice semi-empty street within a very short walking distance. As we crossed 59th Ave I have a habit of trotting while I cross the street but Abby hates it. Well this SOB on a big Ram truck didn’t show signs of wanting to stop even though we were at the middle of the intersection and on the crosswalk. I pulled Abby harder and then hesitated as I still was not sure of what he was going to do. We finally got to the other side and I couldn’t help but scream to the fool on the truck out of adrenaline charged rage. His female passenger attempted to do the talking for him but he sped away. OK this was the only bad incident of the night. They will get their just reward for their stupid careless actions in due time. <br />

If you have never been to Glendale Glitters try to make the trip at least once. I know some of my family members like to go every year more than once. Food row is a huge attraction at this event with the ever famous and always tasty Indian bread having one of the biggest lines. If you have kids this is a good place for them to have a fantastic time as there are lots of attractions, rides, and activities aimed just at them. However take some money as it will set you a few dollars back. </div>

Historic Glendale houses lots and lots of Antique Stores and they keep them open late during this time. If you are into antiques this is the place to be. </div>
<br />
We walked it up and down, had some Indian Bread, entered a couple of Antique Stores, took some pictures, enjoyed the lights, fought the crowds (on opening weekend this event attracts well over a hundred thousand people each night), enjoyed the typical Phoenix Winter weather (no sweaters or jackets required) and then decided to call it quits and headed back home.<br />

<br />
Ok she had been to Arrowhead Mall in Peoria but I still have not taken her to Arizona Mills in Tempe so after we attended mass and dropped my mom home I headed to the Mills without telling her where we were going. We got there on an empty stomach so I suggested we eat first. The mall as expected was pretty packed and parking space was scarce but we spotted an empty spot near the entrance and parked the car before we were beaten to it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We had dinner at the Rainforest Café and let me tell you it took the whole rest of the day and lots of walking afterwards just to digest it. I had an extremely tasty steak and chicken fajitas plate while Abby opted for an equally tasty plate of pasta Cajun style aptly named “Pastalaya”. Ummm both plates were very delicious and filling and worth every penny. We pretty much finish all the food as we didn’t want to be carrying it all over the mall.<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Ok the truth is we did carry the food but in our tummies.</blockquote>
Arizona Mills has more higher-end stores that are not found at Arrowhead Mall but when you visit the stores on a Sunday and a holiday is near and all the stores swear they have “good sales” the place becomes hard to navigate and I for one feel crowded and overwhelmed. I grew up being a swap meet type of guy not a mall person.<br />
<br />
Still, Abby did find herself a cool looking suit ensemble in a different color than her standard black. I have yet to convince her to put more color in her wardrobe but hey little by little. It appeared that this year orange is the new pink but she wasn’t buying it. <br />
<br />
Before we knew it gates and sliding doors were being slammed and that was out cue that it was time to go home. Truth be told my feet were so tired from walking that in my case should have been cue enough but Abby is a tireless browser/window shopper and I just have to shape up to keep up with her. Ah youth has escaped and swooshed over my head without my permission. <br />
<br />

<br />
As we stepped out to the parking lot it was already dark and after a not to bad traffic jam from all the exiting shoppers we were on the freeway on our way back home. <br />
<br />
All in all, a most excellent day out in the company of my honey. I am sure we will be doing this again soon. <br />

<br />
The post said to first register to win, second to write a post as to why I like NASCAR, and third to upload a favorite NASCAR related picture of mine, and it was a that point that I said that the prize which consisted of a 4-pack of NASCAR tickets for Sunday's race was mine. Well, at least that's what I told myself.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ1LTIJ5e4pqicu6w6ha3ACA3hL0e1rUylQ0w9nDzKZyrfMprD_xSzevcDfwDt4ePS7aLA-qsx4Ppa6U-8IxrOF3_qxquF8c7LVmpRVCqY9-v-6rYlinPqmFOiuvPb8EAahV9U/s1600/521827_534520393244589_1379390896_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ1LTIJ5e4pqicu6w6ha3ACA3hL0e1rUylQ0w9nDzKZyrfMprD_xSzevcDfwDt4ePS7aLA-qsx4Ppa6U-8IxrOF3_qxquF8c7LVmpRVCqY9-v-6rYlinPqmFOiuvPb8EAahV9U/s320/521827_534520393244589_1379390896_n.jpg" width="320" /></a>So I did, I followed the motions and did as they instructed and then for the next four days I kept checking my facebook and my phone for texts as I was just waiting for the good news that I was the winner... But nothing. Then Thursday night as we got to our church choir practice I received a voice mail, funny thing is I never heard my phone ring and it said: "Congratulations Jose you have just been selected the winner of the 4-pack NASCAR tickets and if you call this number tomorrow we will instruct you on how to get them". </div>
I just kinda laughed when I told Abby cause I had been waiting for that call all week as if I was certain I would get it. <br />
<br />
My daughter Nikki is a pro at winning contests and immeadiately she sent me a text congratulating me for the win. When I suggested that maybe now it was time for me to start buying lotto tickets she said: "Trust me dad, I have done it and it doesn't work". Talk about a harsh way to burst my bubble. Well, I can't no longer say I never win anything right!<br />
<br />
So, we recruited a couple of awesome kids to fill the other two seats, Diego and Loyiel Jr. a.k.a. "Ducky" were only too happy to come with us. So after picking them up we headed to P.I.R. which fortunately is only a few minutes away from the house. Being that NASCAR is attended by thousands of people streets get closed and traffic gets re-routed but I know the shorcuts. He he he!<br />

<br />
We got there a bit late so we missed a lot of the exhibits and stuff but we did get to see the F-16s fly over and the fireworks. The seats were right before turn #1 but we were only the third row from the bottom and the view wasn't the best, when the cars passed in front of us they were just a blur and if we turned our heads to the right to see them go they were already dissapearing on turn one.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Nevertheless, we had an awesome time, the kids really enjoyed it and we got to go RV hopping too, so at least that was fun.</div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
We got up and watch some TV and then I realized the day was so attractive and it was saying get out of the house and enjoy. So I told Abby to get ready cause we were going out. I had read in the newspaper that the City of Litchfield was having it's annual Arts Festival and I thought for sure we would have a good time. Too bad we couldn't afford any of the nice stuff for sale there but it is always nice to just watch and get ideas.</div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Quick stop at the bank to get some petty cash and we were on our way. We got there at around noon and Old Litchfield Road was packed, we were lucky to find a parking spot very close by. We were welcomed by the Food Row area and since we hadn't had lunch we decided on eating first. Food at these type of events is always expensive but for some reason always extremely tasty. <br />

So here we are, it's already November and the weather is still hot. OK, it was not extremely hot but hot enough. So we walked up and down and pretty much stopped at the majority of the vendors tents. I always fall in love with big frames as I have a big tall wall that is screaming for some major art, maybe soon.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn0x6T0_ea-YmsPJZ_0U_zOd-xbaFEgLt4VGQJvQw1FDsP9QjgsTSYGb8joQ7_g7rBTSGrDlWBAEIcsdu-ATsOhIdwj-Fpk_NgeHxtzwqsjV0o_ZlRgCvcy3saaBFrBoGpV74x/s1600/christmas_graphics_01.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn0x6T0_ea-YmsPJZ_0U_zOd-xbaFEgLt4VGQJvQw1FDsP9QjgsTSYGb8joQ7_g7rBTSGrDlWBAEIcsdu-ATsOhIdwj-Fpk_NgeHxtzwqsjV0o_ZlRgCvcy3saaBFrBoGpV74x/s1600/christmas_graphics_01.gif" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Are you all ready for Christmas? Without a doubt for me the Christmas season is the best time of the year and yet for many years we struggled to get pass it. Yes, I know that now Christmas is highly commercialized but that is not what Christmas is all about. To put it in very simple terms Christmas is the annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and to do this we have come out with many customs and traditions not celebrated by one or two people but by billions of people around the world.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
There is a warm and fuzzy feeling I get througout the entire season. I love to also live the Christmas season through my kids and grand kids and hope that in some way we all get past the hoopla that comes with it and just share the love and goodwill that surrounds this important celebration.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
There are many traditions such as hanging Christmas lights, getting a Christmas tree to decorate, sing Christmas Carols, exchange gifts, and eat lots and lots of delicious food but I have a tradition of my own that I adopted and that is to watch as many Christmas movies as I can. The reason for this is that the majority of them have a positive message and in many cases are inspirational and most of the time I end up by myself watching as many as I can.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
In previous years I use to set my DVR on overdrive to record all the Christmas movies on Lifetime and Hallmark channels and kept watching the recorded movies well into January or February, but I no longer have the luxury of a DVR and my current cable plan doesn't even include the Hallmark channel so last year I had Christmas movie withdrawals.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Well, this year it seems this won't be a problem. Thanks to Netflix I am already on my 8th or 9th movie this year so far and counting, and I already am in a Christmas mood.</div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The Advent and Christmas season is also a busy season for our church choir and I look forward to it. I think of Christmas as the best time of the year to share life with family and friends and just as Christmas is the best time of the year in the economy representing a big part of any business yearly revenue, it should also create a sort of spiritual revenue in our souls to carry our love and goodwill for one another until the next Christmas season.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
My wish for you is that no matter how you stand economically this Christmas season, you get to enjoy the magic of the season by counting your blessings and realizing that the best things in life are free. Visit your local church and attend the Christmas mass and then just celebrate with a wonderful Chrismas dinner in the company of your family.</div>
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I hope you all get into the Christmas spirit.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
Peace! </div>

What can be used to lure it out? I was taking my morning walk and the weather felt so good at time of the morning that it allowed me to notice the ducks happily swimming on the lakes, I noticed all the landscapers hard at work making the local landscape look so nice, I notice how Cosita our female chihuahua had to take about 10 steps as opposed to one of mine, crossed about the elderly couples also on their morning stroll and apparently enjoying it too, I noticed the mom on the bike followed by her son trailing right behind her apparently on their way to school.<br />
<br />
It's amazing how much one notices when ones mind is clear. It is inspiring to see how well coordinated life is when allowed to take its natural course, all that is left to do is first thank God for allowing us to live, and second live it to the fullest. In my case all I can say is "What a life", and what a privilege to be a part of it.<br />

<br />Josehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17057386419079395375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29823358.post-60588173811549185592012-10-08T09:03:00.002-07:002012-10-08T09:34:41.052-07:00My Weakness!I am sitting here realizing that finally the grueling Phoenix summer heat has finally subsided and that it's time to start shedding those few pounds I gained during the summer. The morning weather is great for walking so I think I need to start my routine again, my goal is to once again be able to wear my belt in the last hole, not to mention it is healthier to be slimmer is it not? <br />
<br />
Did you know that a good life and good food equals a few extra pounds? No? Well, all you have to do is look at me and that theory clearly will come to light, but when you are blessed with a bunch of great cooks in your life as I am it is hard to bring yourself to say "enough", and in my case if the cook happens to be my mom and I tell her enough she says "no entiendo" and packs my plate full of nothing but exquisite food and since I am blessed to have my mom around to cook for me and to actually know she enjoys cooking for me saying "no" in that context is non existent. <br />
<br />
I guess when it comes to food the bottom line is I AM WEAK and it truly is very hard for me to say "enough is enough" and much less to say "no". Who out there can say no to a "mole rojo" or to a "carne asada" or to "chiles rellenos" or "cochinita pivil" or "tinga", and the ever delicious tacos. Ummm que rico! (can you tell I am Mexican?). <br />
<br />
So I wonder, what is your food weakness? Something you almost never say no, something you sneak so nobody says anything. You all know mine is tacos, God know I have posted this fact a million times, I swear if I don't eat tacos on a regular basis I'd probably go on withdrawals.<br />
<br />
So the goal is simple, I don't see myself not eating anytime soon so I must compromise and learn how to balance eating and exercising so I can stay healthy, I am 53 years old and still not on any medications but then again I haven't visited my doctor in over a year so that may change soon, then again maybe not. In the meantime as long as there are great cooks in my life and they keep cooking delicious dishes for me I will continue to let them spoil me as yes I am weak, weak, weak, but with a full stomach.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Every year we try to attend the Avondale Fire-Rescue Free Open House at the local firehouse which luckily for us is only a five minute walk from the house and this year is no exception. The open house features free hot dogs and hamburgers, popcorn, sodas, and ice cream. The fire engines are displayed and Billy Scott, the singing fireman put on a show involving the kids. They do a little show, act silly and they get little giveaways. Kids love it!<br />
<br />
I have always loved to do things with my kids and grandkids, the sense of family unity, the bonding, the fun, the memories we create, the accomplishment of seeing my family grow together on a daily basis is worth to me more than anythng else, that's why we make outings such as this a tradition. Just two weeks ago I had the opportunity of creating wonderful memories with my new family in California while visiting The Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa California (but that is another story to be told).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHIhD0TVPeiXC9ljY8d5-lr0hlnZS8AOjjaf8aHbZqMA09ivCyhqnDKgwBeW_WznF8U0lx_68wbIG9CiPHJZsf4Y6QbCqIQo5dIhw1a7-LmxM5VlaoWYbKdWIVibbVAe5UX9gI/s1600/100_4562.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" mea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHIhD0TVPeiXC9ljY8d5-lr0hlnZS8AOjjaf8aHbZqMA09ivCyhqnDKgwBeW_WznF8U0lx_68wbIG9CiPHJZsf4Y6QbCqIQo5dIhw1a7-LmxM5VlaoWYbKdWIVibbVAe5UX9gI/s400/100_4562.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Today's event wasn't any different than last years, yet the kids seem to enjoy it every year. You've all seen the face paintings Nikki does on the kids. Well there was a girl painting the most simple designs on the kid's arms and yet they tought it was the most awesome thing and so they all waited paitently in the long line to get theirs. Sometimes it's the simple things in life isn't it? I thank God for the opportunity to spend this type of quality time with my wonderful family and I appreciate it very, very much.<br />
<br />
Some of the things the firemen teach the kids and adults is how to protect your family from fire. We love to tour the station and the engines, the kids just love to get prizes, oh and to get baloons. Why are kids so mystifies with baloons is beyond me, but they are, if they see one they want it and won't stop til' they get it.<br />
<br />
This event kicks off the Fire Prevention Week. It's amazing to see how much valuable information the kids pick up at the Open House while enjoying the food and fun. Oh and did I mention it is all FREE? <br />

<br />
TGIF... Wait, what's the difference? Being out of work for so long has put me out of touch as to what a weekend should feel like, when you don't work everyday is the same, OK except maybe Sunday cause that's when I go to church. Since my honey started working I can at least from her perspective wait in anticipation for the weekend. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
So now I once again wake up early to see her off and once she leaves I pretty much stay up, yes the bed does call me repeatedly and says to please come back but I resist, not easy but I do, talk about will power.</div>
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
What to do? What to do?, well since it is not so hot anymore I think it's time to get the old pony out of the garage and start it up, run it up for a while and take it to emissions to get it passed, at least that is my hope that it will pass without having to sink lots of money into it, so I can get my tags current. The weather is getting great for top down cruising around town. </div>

The newer pony too is in desperate need of being washed so the question to me is: What are you doing here blogging instead of being out there doing those things? Ummm well, I don't know, I guess that is how I roll. <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<br />
The Light House by PD James -- (I am still reading this one as it is very slow) --<br />

<br /></div>
So I went to the library and looked for the two book choices I had one being "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" which I couldn't find an available copy and my second choice "The Help" which they did have. So as always I wanted to read the book before I catch the movie and so far I am enjoying it very much. This is one of those books that you put down only to pick it up again a few minutes later.<br />
<br />
The book I was reading (OK I am still not discarding it yet) was definitely too slow, definitely not a page turner so I will give it a rest and attempt to pick it up later on in life. <br />
<br />
So, what's on your reading list these days?<br />

It was one of those Sundays that I decided to go home right after church instead of going to my sister's where for sure I will be nicely fed. The weather is starting to get hot and I was wearing a dress shirt and tie so I just wanted to get home and change into something comfortable. <br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Summoned to Peter Piper Pizza by da kids will only end in me being lovingly attacked by the gkids.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It wasn't even 10 minutes from the time I got home when the phone rang. It was my son calling to invite me to join him and my sisters along with all the rugrats at Peter Piper Pizza for some pizza and chicken wings. Since it was already almost 2:00 o'clock and I was hungry I gladly accepted.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately we were missing Diego whom was visiting his cousin and junior whom works Sundays, other than that we were all there. Nikki and Loyiel got there way after we all got there but at least they made it. <br />
<br />
We stayed there for about two hours. Peter Piper is one of those places the kids love cause they can run free and make noise and basically nobody cares, there kids can just be kids just like at Chuck E. Cheese.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Part of my every morning is to take a 2.3. mile walk around the neighborhood for exercise, it's more of a combination jogging and walking. I used to walk around my workplace every year and stop walking when summer came as it gets to hot to bear. That was only a 2-mile walk. I started walking as suggested by my doctor, she said I needed to exercise to keep my blood pressure down. Once I started I have not stopped, I truly enjoy walking and only miss a day here or there but for the most part I am committed to my walk.</div>
<br />
<br />
Of course walking is always more enjoyable when the sights are like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XgEYvGUFKdbBmbBV_8Z9IcM0_WOIw-CoAukiQRMmsrG0mHd7UJGRq-u6g1wCZMLyOJ8JdR5ptRRpgCoNAlFt08XjWObvWDiefD0YWmBAbYp8mOwTKgUqcCFag6b6qlO5kBYL/s1600/100_3293.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XgEYvGUFKdbBmbBV_8Z9IcM0_WOIw-CoAukiQRMmsrG0mHd7UJGRq-u6g1wCZMLyOJ8JdR5ptRRpgCoNAlFt08XjWObvWDiefD0YWmBAbYp8mOwTKgUqcCFag6b6qlO5kBYL/s640/100_3293.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The community I live in has a series of lakes and most homes have a lake front view. However these are really not lakes but actually they are "treatment cells" complete with "working fish". So this is in fact a Natural Water Treatment System consisting of 21 separate lakes or "cells" covering 72 acres with the purpose of creating aquatic wildlife habitat and a water purification system.<br />
<br />
So as you can imagine visually it is a very beautiful and well planned community and it's easy to get used to the surrounding. Bird sanctuaries, ducks all over the place, plenty of fish in the lakes, a jogging or running track around every lake, every back yard has easy access to the lake and the running tracks and just around the corner a complete shopping plaza with plenty of stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and parks.<br />
<br />
Having an association really sucks but at the same time it makes complete sense to have it as the landscaping around the neighborhood is always we ll kept and very clean. Yes they are tought but in the end it is for our best interest if we want to live in a beautiful community.<br />
<br />
So here are some pics I took during one of my recent walks, hope you like them.<br />

We just seem to have fun everytime we are out and with the always readily and available camera we capture many of these moments for us to remember later on. Not that the memories fade right away or anything but pictures do speak a thousand words.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I think I am at a stage in my life where I really enjoy every minute we are out visiting places. Weather it's a first time or a repeat I tend to always find something new to see. Traveling on a budget makes it more interesting and makes me focus on the visuals more than on physical souverniers which in many cases can set you back a few dollars. And as I always say thanks to the new technology in digital cameras we can bring a lot of pictures, all treasured "free" souverniers.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
It's apparent that Abby and I will be doing as many of these day road trips as we can. In most cases all it requires is a tankfull of gas and the inner drive to actually get out of the house and hit the road. Of course I am taking into consideration that in our case it will be very easy as we don't have little ones to haul around. So far we have been to Sedona, Jerome, Cave Creek, and Wikenburg in Arizona and to Sonoma and Santa Barbara in California. I am loving it.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
To add excitement into the mix we will probably be alternating the cars and the bike. We will have the choice of top down or bike ride, and when the Phoenix weather hits the dreaded triple digits we can put those tops up and crank the AC.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
As Abby and I prepare to share our lives as a unit it has been very exciting finding out how much we enjoy similar thngs. To find out that we share the same passion for things will only make things easier when the time comes to choose things to do. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
I for one really am looking forward to it.Josehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17057386419079395375noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29823358.post-35178386445494718262012-04-25T02:02:00.000-07:002012-04-25T02:26:16.331-07:00Fabulous Fords Forever 2012<br />

<br />
I've been interested in Mustangs since my uncle was given a dilapidated 66 fast back that got resurrected and eventually stolen never to be found. As a teenager I got to drive it everyday to school for a whole year and I knew then I would some day own one. <br />
<br />
Then in 1990 I purchased a used but well kept 93 convertible which I still own to this day. The fox body is showing it's age so I decided to purchase another used Mustang, this one a 2007 coupe. I enjoy and love both my ponies and actually really drive them alot.<br />

I know a lot of people that buy this cars only to put them in their garage and used them occasionally on a weekend drive, but not me. I am of the belief that it's a machine and it has to be used and enjoyed, otherwise what is the point? <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
So at least eight years out of the thirteen that I have owned my fox body I have made the treck to California for the yearly Fabulous Fords Forever car show at Knott's Berry Farm and to me it just does not get old. This year was not the exception. The trip was nice, the weather was the best for the show in all the years I have attended, it was slightly cloudy and the sun only briefly broke through just before the show was over. So it wasn't hot at all as compared to previous years.</div>
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">There she is, capturing little video pegs during at the show.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Another plus is that Abby actually enjoys coming to the car shows with me and totally gets into the spirit of things. She likes having the souvenier t-shirts and is good at taking pictures too. Now if I could only get her to like lowered cars. She claims they do not look good lowered which is crazy thinking if you know what I mean. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
My dream pick up truck is an old Ford F-100 and when I showed her one I liked at the show she agreed with me 100%, yep, I say she is definitely a keeper. </div>
<br />
At nearly 2000 cars on display it is hard to keep track of which aisles we had walked and which one we hadn't but overall I think we pretty much covered most of the show. The Capri section brought her memories as my lil sister's first car was a Capri and they used to probably ditch school and go cruising in it. She says no, but I am sure they did. She had to take a couple of pictures of one and texted it to her. <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My little sister's first car was a Capri just like this one.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
To many cars are only transportation but to some of us they are an extension of our individuality and many of us have memories from days gone by which were brought but a particular vehicle. Many firsts happen in a car and also many bad memories too. Bottom line, getting from point A to point B is always better and more enjoyable if you like your car. <br />

<br />
Now that I have finished the Hunger Games trilogy I am ready to move on to other books. I must say of the three books I enjoyed the first one the most, "Catching Fire" was not too bad either but "Mockinjay" gave me the feeling that she was stretching the story and failed to make me want to finish it right away. I did notice something tho, Panem was going through some sort of a rebellion/war and killing, suffering, and hunger were an everyday thing for many and in no time during the three books religion is ever mentioned. Which kindda proves that a world with no religion will be a world in chaos.<br />
<br />
So, while in California at the beginning of last month we were at the hospital and I had finished reading Timeline so I was left withot a book to read so we went to the gift store and noticed that they had a bunch of books there soft and hard covers ranging from $.50 to $2.00 wow, good books too. So some of the ones they had I had already read but Abby recommended and bought for me "The Lighthouse" by PD James. I never heard of this writer but I'm into page eight and it is picking up really nice. It's a mystery and apparently she has a series of books with the main character of this book Adam Dalgliesh. <br />
<br />
Happy reading fellow readers!<br />

Me, I still read regular paper books were I actually can turn the page and fold the top as a marker when I put it down.Josehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17057386419079395375noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29823358.post-14721970091534003882012-04-11T01:09:00.004-07:002012-04-11T01:38:31.730-07:00Fabulous Fords Forever 2012<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqk9m9kNK4j7MiaXxd5ZR9QM5UcEwVW0IoaMqB4ltMABZ7ub5nNpVlvcWiA6eKiZ8qbipPKFnVXsqoBHat0bgkwCX3jAUP4vt8s4xh72PNOZiuD1sEooYdsG-LUdNBgUHMoBe6/s1600/430231_10150591102753645_118430858644_9412998_963763175_n.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqk9m9kNK4j7MiaXxd5ZR9QM5UcEwVW0IoaMqB4ltMABZ7ub5nNpVlvcWiA6eKiZ8qbipPKFnVXsqoBHat0bgkwCX3jAUP4vt8s4xh72PNOZiuD1sEooYdsG-LUdNBgUHMoBe6/s400/430231_10150591102753645_118430858644_9412998_963763175_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5730052796526962930" /></a><br /><br />Oh I would love if my baby looked this good, after owning it for 12 years and being a daily driver my pony is slowly but surely starting to disintegrate. But still when I wash it and take it out for a drive it still gets many thumbs up and people always ask me if I want to sell it. The truth is this car has been and is still to this day a looker and I hope to once again make it look good in the future.<br /><br />Fabulous Fords Forever, a yearly car show at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California is coming un in two weeks and I will be there. I won't be taking the convertible though, I will be driving the 07 instead.<br /><br />This will be the 27th Annual Fabulous Fords Forever car show and the eighth time I will be participating. It will take place on Sunday, April 22 and it's certainly the most gigantic car show I attend. About 2000 entries are expected on some 52 classes of nothing but pure Ford beauty. <br /><br />Can you guess what car dominates the show by far. If you guessed the Mustang you were right. I say more than 50% of the car entries are Mustangs. The Mustang is an icon and has been continuously built every year since 1964 and hands down beats any other model.<br /><br />Still, there is plenty to see besides Mustangs and for a free show it espectators it is totally worth it. <br /><br />So, to all my California peeps, see you soon.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjctL6qbKLEKJgG9wV-hmOHqctUU8tfEME1kz-0_Mndrg7SGqCCZtsB3ZblQjosqlvmOsSBOg5AK1nLbmF4vcSVJanUF_kOS2lZGbujvDOLuTL_xB1WG789oTF21YFq4cty1Ys/s1600/Copy+of+IMG_0811.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjctL6qbKLEKJgG9wV-hmOHqctUU8tfEME1kz-0_Mndrg7SGqCCZtsB3ZblQjosqlvmOsSBOg5AK1nLbmF4vcSVJanUF_kOS2lZGbujvDOLuTL_xB1WG789oTF21YFq4cty1Ys/s400/Copy+of+IMG_0811.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5730059521257925474" /></a><center><em>A window reflection of my pony.</em></center>Josehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17057386419079395375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29823358.post-78436734342147938592012-04-07T23:31:00.015-07:002012-04-09T00:01:10.721-07:00Happy Birthday To You Both!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIkNWaVzN8fyx-cm7Kamz_YGkMbgr0lM5gMDW6dYEdNGJKeZs_KgZD5koi0hWmkGLd3kJmOu800iXakN9V8ZwdOBNSTrrBooI91_JFaFUYye1VqT8gkbc5YNCP9ZA-zBLu2Ii8/s1600/305659_3751609435200_1425319904_33468185_309318321_n.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIkNWaVzN8fyx-cm7Kamz_YGkMbgr0lM5gMDW6dYEdNGJKeZs_KgZD5koi0hWmkGLd3kJmOu800iXakN9V8ZwdOBNSTrrBooI91_JFaFUYye1VqT8gkbc5YNCP9ZA-zBLu2Ii8/s400/305659_3751609435200_1425319904_33468185_309318321_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729282183464745666" /></a><center><em>Granpa and his two birthday princesses.</em></center><br />So, today was the dual birthday celebration for Ariele and Atalie, they turned 4 and 2 respectively and my daughter threw them a formal party, at least that's what the invitation said, so I got dressed up in my Sunday best and went to the party. I threw them in the washer, set the dial on delicate, closed the lid, and gave it a go. A few minutes later, they were done, and I mean they were done, as in done for good because for some reason there were threads hanging from everywhere. How would I know that they would disintegrate? Well, plan "B" you are it.<br /><br />I got there a bit late as I was also getting ready for church so I didn't stay there for long, OK long enough to eat because I was starving and the sandwich and chips were calling my name and by the way, they were good. Basically we were looking for a sofa and love seat but when we stopped at MOR two weeks ago to do some window shopping we noticed the prices were high. We did see a sofa-chaise combo we liked for about $500.00 but decided to go see what other furniture stores had to offer.<br /><br />The radio is always airing this commercial about a furniture store that only opens on weekends named "The Dump". Abby being from California and all told me, "Why don't we try that trash place they announced on the radio?" Hummm trash place, let me see... Oh you mean "The Dump", "Yeah that one" she said. <br /><br />So on a busy Friday afternoon we set off to the city of Chandler to check this place out. It only took us a few minutes to realize that the only dumping there would be from us dumping our money. Pretty much everything there was very expensive, so we didn't last too long in there.<br /><br />The decision to come back to the neighborhood was a wise one, I much rather "dump" my money in my own hood anyway so we once again went back to MOR to purchase that little sofa we had seen the previous week. However, what a difference a week makes, all of a sudden every living room set was either on sale or priced just right. All of a sudden we have a bunch of affordable choices.<br /><br />We narrowed it to three sets we liked and then the salesman points me to this sectional, (we were not looking into sectionals) and I immediately liked it. Abby, maybe not so at first. It was priced just right and I loved the color so after weighing the alternatives we decided to purchase it.<br /><br />I think it will look awesome in our living room but unfortunately it will take about three weeks for it to come in. Thankfully we were not in a hurry.
