My weekend wasn't really the greatest. I fell into a "I don't want to do anything" mode and I just could not shake it. I winded up sleeping all day Saturday and only got up on Sunday to attend mass and have dinner at my sister's. Once that was done it was back home to bed. Needless other than going to mass and dinner it was totally a wasted weekend. So the fairly big "to do" list that I had for Saturday will just have to join the the list for next weekend.
This morning I woke up on time and left the house early only to find the entrance of the freeway backed up. I thought here I go again I am going to be late for work so I started to settle into the freeway traffic when I noticed the source of the slow down. This guy that takes the same freeway entrance and exit and rides a semi-custom bike was down. Now I don't know if he was hit, if he hit, or if he just lost control of the bike. I just hate to see riders down as it is a constant reminder of how vulnerable we are while riding.
I could see he was moving and there were people there already giving him aid. I imagine the ambulance had also been called. So I just silently extended a prayer for him to be OK and kept going. I have seen this type of scene before and I have to shake it real fast and not let it get to me, riding is still my passion and would not dream of giving it up, at least not yet.
One of those things in my "to do" list is to take the bike for service but since I have to drop it off and leave it there I would need a ride back home and then back to the dealership when ready. These days those rides are scarce as everybody seems to be extremely busy.
Well, hopefuly next weekend I will figure it out one way or the other. For now I just hope my week goes fine.
And I wish for yours to go fine as well.
Peace!

A Wonderful Weekend Indeed

Wow, I must say I had not had a weekend like this in quite a while, I was starting to feel pretty abandoned by my kids and was really longing for their company. Well that ended this weekend and I hope it sparks many more family get togethers to come.
I had a fantastic Friday afternoon that started great company and a buy one get one free Chipotle's burrito. Anybody that has been to Chipotle's should know that their burritos mean business, no matter how hungry you are when you finish one of those there should not be any traces of hunger left.
My Saturday started pretty good, the weather held and as predicted it was gorgeous so that prompted me to take out the convertible to go to all the places I needed to go. Had to take a class at church at 1:00 p.m. so I got ready, jumped in the car and got there just in time. Two hours later I was heading back home thinking about food, yes I think about food a lot, as I was driving a text came in from my daughter Michelle asking me what my plans were for that afternoon. Well Monday is her husband's birthday so she said my son and his family were meeting them at Denny's and asked if I wanted to go.

I had seen Michelle two weeks ago but had not seen my other kids since the "Big Game" day and if my son was going to be there then I would see two of them at least. Then another text came in, this time it was my sister-in-law asking if I wanted to join her and my daughter Nichole in going to a club to dance the night away. I coordinated my time and was able to accommodate the outing.
I was picked up at nine and we were off. It was my sister-in-law, my daughter and her friend and we were to pick up one more girls. I was warned that I was going to be in the company of many beautiful women. Well, they were not lying.
We went to one of the clubs my brother DJs regularly and got there kinda early. We scored one of the few tables there and waited for the people to start dancing. The girls went to the bar to get some drinks while I stayed at the table guarding the seats and their purses, then this "lady" stands behind me and asks if the seats are taken. "Oh yes they are" I said. "Are you here alone?" she asked, I said no and pointed towards my four beautiful companions, "All four?" she said, "yep!" Was my reply. "Do you want to make it five?" she said. It is at that time that my posse came back from getting our drinks. "Awww dad, are you being picked up by a "tranny"?" lol The lady, wasn't a lady but a guy in drag, but then again I knew that.

Ja, ja, how times have changed since my disco days back in the 80's. Bottom line, we had a blast, danced the night away and finally called it a night at around 2:30 a.m. but we were not done yet as we were all hungry and decided to go eat some tacos.
I party the night before but that did not change the fact that I had to be up early to get ready for church. My grandson Diego asked me to pick him up and so we bonded all day long. Later I called my daughter's and invited them to come and eat some enchiladas. Nikki spend most of the afternoon with me and then Michelle and family showed up.
All in all, a wonderful weekend full of the greatest company I could have had, family friends and good food and as icing for the cake the opportunity to experience having a tequila shot with my brother at the club for the very first time.
Yes, it was a great weekend and I will do my best to repeat it all over again next weekend.

Sunday
I really have not had anything to relate to you guys so I've been quiet. I've been keeping myself at home which really does not give me anything to write about. Weather has been crazy, some days are cold and the next are warm, no wonder everybody is getting sick.
Last week this "Choir Boy" completed his first year as a member of the choir and I can honestly say it has made a big impact in my life. I feel good to be back in church and to be able to serve in this capacity. Really looking forward to the second year. Right now as I type this it's almost time for me to start getting ready to go to church. I have made it a habit to get up early on Sunday and to try to fully wake up by having me my morning cup of coffee while I check for my emails and stuff. My days of rushing to do things are over.
Normally as a treat after mass I get treated to a wonderful meal at my sister's house. What? Me spoiled? Absolutely! :-)
So far I've had a great weekend, both my Friday afternoon and my Saturday morning were most excellent, although my afternoon nap turned out to be a full blown four hour sleep, ha ha what else is new? So I am hoping to close this weekend with a fantastic Sunday, and so far so good.
Well hopefully next week I'll come up with something else to write about but for right now I am just going to wish you all have a fantstic peaceful Sunday hopefuly full of family companionship.

Finally It's The Weekend

Today after work I'll be going to a funeral, a friend of mine lost his mom and even though they already expected it it's still hard I'm sure. So if you are the praying kind please include him and his family in your prayers.
But then after I get home I will start enjoying my weekend. The weather in Phoenix finally changed and as I expected it was drastic. Last Saturday I washed my white Mustang, poor car was so dirty from being parked in the garage for so long that it took me almost four hours to clean it but I gave it and throughout makeover kindda car wash. It was sunny and hot and yes by the time I finished my back had a good dose of sunburn, and of course smart me wore no sunblock. Ouch!
Monday the car looked so good that I drove it to work with the top down, all I needed was a light jacket and I was on my way, then the very following day the temperature dropped so much that all of a sudden it feels like winter and there's no way I would drive the car with the top down in the morning, the afternoons however are a different story.
Today it's so cold (By Phoenix standards. I know cold for us Phoenicians is t-shirt weather for some of you back east) that I am wearing a sweat shirt and a jacket, brrrr and if you plese give me a second I'll be right back I'm going to turn my little space heater on.
Cold weather calls for hot chocolate, sweet bread, good movies, and a cover, and soon I'll be enjoying those yearly wonderful Christmas movies I love so much, while lounging on the couch. I love it, can't wait!

Image borrowed from the Internet.
After today I am only working four more days and then I'll be out on vacation for ten glorious long days. There's so much I want to do but not enough moulla to do it, so what should I do? Where should I go? Whom should I visit? I am taking suggestions starting... NOW!
The alternative to a vacation is to stay home and tip every third person you see. ~Author Unknown
In the meantime while I think and decide on what to do for my vacation I also need to decide what to cook tonight. Monday and Friday are two days I cook for me, as all the other days I eat with my mom and the weekends sometimes I eat out. I've been experimenting with cooking meals I had never cooked before and I am pleasantly surprising myself because I am not a bad cook at all. I have recipes flying in my head that are dying to get out of there and be tried. Ummmm what to eat tonight? I don't know yet but I am sure it will be muy rico!
Well, I'm diggin this new look my daughter gave my blog and I hope you are too. Have a terrific weekend.

My Weekend
What a weekend, from Happy Hour, to Happy Birthday Carne Asada, to my continued new career as a choirboy, to a free concert/spiritual hour after the six o'clock mass, not a dull moment in this kids life.
It was Junior's birthday last week and my father in law's birthday today so last Saturday we decided to have a Carne Asada to celebrate. As always we had plenty of of food. My sister in law made the rice, my daughter in law brought beans with chorizo, (uuum they were good too), her mom baked the cake, and I blended a couple of my very tasty salsas. We had a really good time and I think everyone left on a full stomach. I for one am still paying the price for overeating but if you know me then you know I can't say no to the Carne Asada. I may be biased but I trully think our family gatherings are the best.
Sunday we had a special guest singer at church. His name is Michael John Poirier and along with his wife, three kids, and a dog, he travels throughout the United States visiting one church after another while spreading his message through some very impressive music which he composes.
As he sang one of his songs, my niece and I picked up the chorus which was very repetitive and started singing with him, we were soon joined by most of our choir members and just sang along with him. It was moving and inspiring as most of what he does is improvised. He has the ability of just putting words to the sweet melodic music he played. Talented individual indeed. When I paid him a compliment on his voice instead of just saying thanks he told me so do you. To say a big smile came out of my face would be an understatement. That was one of two major compliments I received yesterday. Ummmm, I think I'm sticking around this choir. It's nice to know that if your fellow parishioners like the music, then God must also be happy.
A huge feast at my sisters followed. More carne asada, mole verde, rice, beans, etc. etc. etc. I'm telling you I'm liking this Sundays more and more. lol Party in my tummy is definitely so yummy.
In the afternoon my sister and I went back to church. Michael was going to have a sort of motivational mini concert and we were all invited. It was free of charge and totally worth the hour and a half we were there. Again this guy just motivates with his stories and his music. And even though he is not bilingual as he does not understand Spanish, he sang many songs he composed in Spanish (Go figure) of course it was all phonetically but he still sounded awesome as his enunciation was really good.
Spending all that time at church has been really good for me. As I told my sister, right now I have nothing but time so if they call me I'm there. We are heading towards two very busy weeks as holy week approaches, and I am totally looking forward to it.

A Nice Weekend
Saturday Michelle and junior enlisted me as the babysitter. They needed to have a date without the three little ones so they took the baby to her nino's and mi chica and I kept the other two.
It was a hot day so they kids asked me if I could take them out to the pool. So, while I waited for the food to be ready we went outside and put some air on our brand new inflatable rafts and went in the pool. Food was ready faster than we expected so our swimming time was cut short but that was OK. I was treated to mi chica's cooking which in my humble opinion is the best. A big steak with sopa de estrellita, rajas con crema, and a salsa made by yours truly that was finger licking good, ummm, ummm, ummmm.
Mi chica was tired as she had worked so she retired and went to sleep, meanwhile the kids and I had a movie night which started with "Shark Tale" followed by "I, Robot", half way throughout I Robot they were totally out.
Sunday was pretty much a lazy day. The kids borrowed our van (what else is new these days) and left for the most part of the morning. In the afternoon I took mi chica to get her nails done. She wanted to try this new place her sister told her about. She didn't like it that much, it was expensive and the service was not the best. Either that or they charged her for the time I sat on that chair and got a heck of a massage. I so want one of those chairs at home. It may not fit our decor but my back will love me for it.
By the time we came out of there it was 6:00pm so naturally I was hungry and so was she so she treated me to a restaurant I had never been to. I think it's called Pei Wei and it's a combination of Asian dishes. I am not too daring when it comes to new foods so I ordered a beef lo mein. The noodles were a bit overcooked making them too soft but I must admit that the flavor was really nice.
The funny thing is that this place is supposed have dishes from Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam according to the sign over the cash register but the voices coming out of the wall-less kitchen were in Spanish. Things that make me go hmmm! I just found out that Pei Wei is the little sister restaurant of P. F. Changs.
Happy on full stomachs we headed back home to the screaming sounds of four grand kids. Oh, yes I love my life.

Weekend

It should be a busy weekend, as it turn out today my grandson graduates from kindergarten, yeap a full blown Hawaiian motif graduation, he is so excited and it should be fun to see a bunch of little kids graduating into first grade. Can you remember your first day of school as a first grader. I kindda can if I close my eyes and go back, back, back, way back in time. lol -- OK but that only means that for the third week in a row I won't go karaoke and as it gets hotter the cut out date for karaoke Friday approaches fast.
I started looking for things to see in our neighborhood yard sale tomorrow but anybody that knows me will be safe to assume that I don't part ways with my things easily. Still I have found a few items plus I intend to put all my frames out there too if at all to see if they create any comments. I prefer if the sell but comments and or conversation is welcomed too. The nice thing about neighborhood yard sales is that all the advertisement has been done for you. I do hope to get rid of a few things and maybe even make some money in the process. My "Ducky" is spending the night with us. I have been hired as the official baby sitter for tomorrow. This little kid loves coming to our house and I am so looking forward to having him. A typical phone conversation with him is like this:
Grandpa: Hi Ducky!
Ducky: (No hi grandpa or anything) I wanna go your house
Grandpa: Yo do?
Ducky: I wanna go your house
Grandpa: OK well ask your mommy to bring you.
(background voice -- "Say goodbye to grandpa".
Ducky: Bye grandpa.
And just like that he is gone. I gotta love my little duck.
Yeap, my weekend has been planned and promises to be an exciting one. What are your plans for the weekend?

El Weekend
It was a nice weekend, in the endless amount of birthday parties Saturday was my niece's birthday. It was held at my mom's house and let me tell you it was a hot day in Phoenix. Fortunately there are a couple of huge trees in my mom's backyard that provide tons of shade and then after the sun went down so did the temperature. All in all we all had a good time but best of all the kids had a great time. Why braking piñatas and eating cake and ice cream always does the trick. So, happy birthday Fernanda you are now one year old, whoohooo!
My son called and invited us to go to Prescott for lunch. It was a treat for the moms and the plan was to take mi chica, his wife, and her mom. We agreed to go and started on our trek. We needed to gas up so I stopped at the gas station and I noticed that mi chica was making noises as in I am not feeling so good this morning kindda noises so we decided to head back to the house and cancelled on going to Prescott.
I knew it had to do with the medication and the fact that we were on empty stomachs but as soon as I got home I went to Chipotle's and got us a pair of the biggest burritos that they make and had a great breakfast. After that she went to bed and I crashed on the couch and pretty much slept for the next four hours. Wow, that was good. lol
My son, his wife and the kids stopped by as they came back from Prescott and spent the next two hours with us. We had a nice time. The only thing is that I didn't get a chance to go see my mom but I will make up next Tuesday when I go to her house.
I hope all the moms out there had a great day.

Weekend Review
So the temperature dropped a little bit more but we still managed to have a great karaoke night over at Manny's. It was weird though because the place is always full of people and on Friday it was empty by 8:30. Considering that they close at 10:00 it was a very slow night. I attribute this to 1) People are saving what little money they have for next week and 2) The economy is just bad and people will have to skip a few nights out.
Today I decided to go drop mi chica to the "park and ride" parking lot in Glendale where she would ride with her coworkers. I kept the van so I could go and sell all those aluminum cans that we had collected. Well, I did and I got a whopping 8:00 for them, ummmm the last time I took the same amount and got about $12.00. I a think they are payin less for them too.
In the afternoon I was to go and picked her up at 5:30. I did and she surprised me with a little stowaway. Yep, my granddaughter Brianna was with her and she was to spend the night with us as "punishment" for acting up with her parents. Of course the punishment included lots of hugs and kisses and we also took her to her favorite Mexican restaurant and bought her as per her request a cheese crisp with a side of guacamole. Ummmmm, carne asada burritos for mi chica and I completed the meal, and to drink a couple of very cold orchatas.
The plan is to bring her sister next week and give her the same attention. Talynna, is normally well behaved so for her we will bring her with us as a reward. Ummmm, no matter what they always win. Yep, our job as grandparents is very tough... Not!
So, tomorrow we will celebrate Talynnas 8 birthday. Her birthday already passed but her party will be tomorrow. Mi chica already started cooking and I believe my son is getting carne asada. Ummmm! Again, that is a winning menu, we can never go wrong with carne asada.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week, and for my friend Betty, a prayer and hugs go out to you. I hope you come out the hospital fast and that you feel better.

El Weekend
Well it's finally Friday, I am excited because we are going to Manny's tonight for some Mexican food and a little karaoke. Mi chica and I went last week and had a great time, tonight a couple of her friends may join us. It should be fun.
Add to that a change in weather and it should be a great night. The temperature is no longer over a 100 degrees, actually the nights are nippy at 80 degrees. I am just not used to cold weather so even when it drops just a little under the three digits I start thinking jackets and sweat shirts. Yeah, I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather.
So, what should I sing tonight, I am open for suggestions.
Tomorrow a friend from work is getting married and we are invited. That should be a good time too. Then my daughter's birthday is on the 24th so she is having a get together at the house and the theme is Halloween. Depending on how much fun we are having at the wedding reception we may just come home early to join the family... But we'll see.
By the way, my car broke down again. Same thing as last week, we know it's electrical so it could be the ignition switch, the starter, or a short caused by the alarm. I just hope it fix is not too expensive.
Anyway that is the plan for the weekend. Sunday remains open for whatever. What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, have a great and safe one.
Correction: Michelle's birthday is the 22nd, and mi chica's and my anniversary is on the 24th. (I knew that, I was just testing you to see if you were paying attention). lol

THE WEEKEND
What an absolutely awesome weekend. It all started with my car leaving me stranded during lunch break on Thursday while we were attending an event sponsored by one of the trucking companies that we deal with at work. We attended the same event back in February and the whole thing is just about going to see the NASCAR racing car #17 driven by Matt Kenseth. With NASCAR coming to Phoenix next week they usually bring the car out for customers to see. This year they even turned it on, and let me tell you this cars are loud. I forgot my camera on top of my desk so I couldn't take pictures by my rep did take some except I have to wait for him to email them to me.
So, we stayed there for a while, we ate and receive some goodies and as sat in my seat to turn it on, my car was completely dead. Half an hour later we got the battery jumped and we were on our way back to the company. This in any other situation would have been a bad thing, but in this case it was a good thing. The car has continued to start without a jump and I have not gotten my battery changed, I guess I am waiting for it to leave me stranded again. Yep, I am a glutton for punishment.
Thanks to this mi chica set it up for my car to be dropped off at her dad's on Friday night so that he could check it and fix a few things. My car received and oil change, a new belt, he changed my rack and pinion, and rotated my tires. The only thing that didn't get fixed was a leak in my transmission as the whole thing has to come off in order to get the gaskets replaced, so we decided to leave this for a future visit. The car was then taken to be aligned and now it feels like new again.
So, Friday afternoon I sent a text message to mi chica asking her if she would like to join me at Manny's after work for some food and karaoke. She said yes so I got there about an hour before she did and I took my time scanning the books. I sang a song while I waited for her and then two more after she got there. I had a great time, and now we will do this again next week. Actually we will be joined by some of her friends.
Saturday, well if you read my previous post then you'll know that we went to the local Fire House Open House, as this is fire prevention week. I had a great time there just watching my grand kids have so much fun.
On Sunday we got up late and after breakfast we went to pick up my car. On the way back we stopped at a couple of stores that mi chica wanted to visit, and then she needed to have her nails done. It was at this time that I got some stress as they had the Cardinals vs. Cowboys game on and in the last three seconds the Cowboys tied the game sending it to overtime. I was told by mi chica more than once to keep the noise down, but hey it was pretty dramatic ending to the game and we were all screaming. The lady painting mi chica's nails kept saying, "I stop now, I stop now" every time a new play was about to start. I had to get out of the place as I didn't want to see the Cardinals lose, but I came back in just in time to see the kick get blocked and the ball picked up by the Cards. TOUCHDOWN! The Cardinals win the game. It all happened so fast that nobody even noticed what happened. I am jumping and screaming and mi chica says, "What happened" "WE WON, WE WON" I told her. "How in the heck did it happen, I just turned my head for one second" she said. Well, thank God for replays because she got so see how it happened.
To celebrate, we went home dropped off my car and went to eat tacos, yep Mexican tacos. We invited my daughter and my grandson to join us, we picked them up and had a great time with them . After that we came home and just chilled. Yep, good weekend indeed. I hope your was just a good.
Labor Day Weekend
Saturday

The bags were packed and ready to go the night before, we really wanted to make sure we left Phoenix at a good time so that with a little luck we could make it to West Covina unload the bags and the kids and then go meet my sister at Casa Cabral for some good ol' karaoke. All things considered, four adults, three kids and five hours of driving the trip was mostly uneventful. Except! The one little incident due to a certain hitchhiker (someone we knew) that kindda put a dent into our otherwise good trip. Thanks to this "dent" we did not make Casa Cabral or Rambo's Tacos on time. Urggggg!
Anyway Saturday we all got up, mi chica had decided on going to "The Alleys". No we were not going to rummage through random alleys, The Garment District is a heaven for women as they find all kinds of stores and the prices are ridiculously low and most people just knows them as "the alleys". So we load up the van with the kids while my son in law, my daughter and two nieces drive in a second car.

Notice the amount of people walking around, these are not the actual streets but the alleys and you find all kind of characters walking around. See Diego posing with a newborn puppy, and a trio of manequins showing the new clothes. I'm telling you, never a dull moment here.
My first job in Los Angeles was delivering "pellon" to every garment manufacturing company in L.A. This was back in the very late 70's and early 80's so I knew every alley in the City of Los Angeles. Back then it was concentrated on a small section, what I didn't realized is that the vendors have expanded almost all the way from First Street all the way to the Santa Monica freeway. That my friends is a huge area.

Can't get any more alley than this. Right by the white trash can where the van is parked was the underground parking lot. Here junior looks as if saying, "OK, so here we are in the alleys and I see not accion, and no vendors."
We found a parking garage that only charged $5.00 to park, so that was not too bad. We started walking through what seemed like a sea of people. I had no idea how many people goes there to shop, I am talking thousands of people. Vendors try hard to compete and attract your business. It is totally, totally crazy and absolutely fun.
Who goes to the alleys, you may ask? Well, anybody and everybody. If you are into people gazing, you will see the most varied array of people there, all together and in good harmony.

Shop, shop, and shop some more was the them of the day. From watches, to perfumes, to shoes, to clothes, to toys, to food. You find it all there.
The weather was a little hot and a little humid but overall not too bad. We easily spent two or three hours there and then we decided we have had enough. Unfortunately we had three little kids that lose interest in what's going on very quick. We got on our cars and mi chica suggested that since we were so close to my old stumping grounds we should drive by where I used to live. My old house was only about five minutes away so that sounded like a great idea, but I will tell you more about that in another post.

Not a sit down restaurant, but a shack. They do have about fifteen stools to sit and eat there, but don't count on finding them empty.
At this point we were hungry and we decided to go buy some shrimp cocktails. There is a place right on the corner of Washington and San Pedro St., that has been there for the past 35 years, it's a very successful sea food place and it's only a shack. They are always busy and people go there from far away to eat the cocktails they prepare. Needless to say they were most excellent.

ATTACK!
After that little detour we headed back towards West Covina but since we were on a "let's tour the old neighbourhoods mode" we headed towards Hacienda Height so that my daugher could see the housed we owned there before we moved to Phoenix (again more on this later).
We called my sister in La Puente and we stopped to visit her. Then mi chica and the kids kept going to West Covina while I stayed at my sister's. We sang some karaoke and later when mi chica was back we got into the jacuzzi for a very relaxing afternoon, then pizza, and then more karaoke. At around 11:00 p.m. we called it a night and went back to West Covina to rest.
The next day we would be going to Venice Beach so we needed to be rested.

Things and Stuff
Again, one more weekend is upon us. We have been invited to more fiestas than we can attend. A baby shower, a 2-year old niece's celebration, my mom's birthday. Yeap, party time and good food sounds good to me. Talking about food, I want you to know that as I write this I am enjoying a pair of home made mole rojo burritos. Yeah, my mom hooks me up with the home made lunch at least three days of the week. I don't see myself losing weight anytime soon.
Hey, I have to send a big shout out to the new sweethearts of gymnastics. In a sport of deductions, these two were getting deductions for being great, while the Chinese girls kept getting good scores even though their routines were full of balance checks. Go figure! But in the end both Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson took the gold and the silver in that order. For some reason the judges found excuses to make them wait for excessive long periods of time before they were given the green light start their routines. I kept watching these two girls struggle to maintain their focus and concentration. In the end they prevailed but they really had to work hard to earn the two top spots.

Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson took the Gold and the Silver Medals.
Picture borrowed from the Internet.
I couldn't help comparing these two to two of my all time gymnastics favorites. Shawn Johnson = Mary Lou Retton, and Nastia Liukin = Shannon Miller. One small and muscular, the other slender and graceful.
I've noticed a great mixture of talents in this Olympics. What I mean by mixture is this, we all know that the Romanian coach came to the US and trained our girls. A Chinese Olympian that fought so hard to have the Olympics in China is our female volley ball coach. Shawn Johnson's coach... Chinese. Our American gold medalist... Russian, Alexander Vladimirovich "Sasha" Artemev... yeap Russian, the only four female table tennis representatives, all American citizens born in China. I see this as the world coming together through sport. I am sure some of you may have a totally different view, but it is in fact a potpourri of races all competing for the USA.
Parties and more Olyimpics watching, sounds like a plan for the weekend.

Weekend Again.
The weekends come faster that I want them to. It's like where does time go? Seems that it just swoosh past over my head over and over again. Granted it's pretty cool to have the weekend again but really when time passes so fast that I don't feel like anything worth while was accomplished I start thinking that maybe, just maybe I am getting old too fast. Not a good feeling.
Well at least this weekend we have a fiesta to attend to. My sisters birthday won't be until the 18th but she will celebrate it with a party this Saturday as my mom's birthday is actually the following week on Saturday the 16th. And also on that same Saturday my niece is throwing a children's party as her daughter turns two years old. I'm telling you, our fiestas never end. It's almost like at the beginning of the year we just take a number and start filling the annual party agenda.
Work is very slow, it is hard to keep my staff busy and to me that is more stressful than when we are busy. The news show that more and more people are being laid off and even though the company I work for does not lay off it's staff the thought is always there that if things don't pick up that could always be a possibility.
So, my favorite show after American Idol came to an end last night. "So You Think You Can Dance" has got to be the best dancing show period. Last night Josh was crowned America's favorite dancer. Week after week they eliminate one guy and one girl so last night as they had the top four and the eliminations started I was very surprised to see the girl that many of us thought would win the whole thing place third while the top to spots were given to two guys. Things that make me go hummmm!
Definitely the best season of the four but I personally was not happy that Twitch made it all the way to number two based on popularity. But then again that's what people base their votes on.
As of right now I have no shows to watch other than the Mexican soaps with mi chica. I am patiently waiting for the season premiere of Prison Brake which I believe starts pretty soon. Can't wait to see what the come up with.
Oh, I almost forgot. The Olympics start today and I will be watching some of my favorite events such as gymnastics, diving, swimming, maybe soccer and a few other favorites of mine.

Puerto Penasco

Although I have never been to Puerto Penasco a.k.a. Rocky Point in Sonora, Mexico the plan is to go there this weekend. My sister in law and "mi chica" planned the outing and as usual all the in-laws want to tag along.
The plan is to leave Phoenix very early on Saturday morning, I believe it's only a four hour drive but I could be wrong. It is roughly 220 miles give or take from our house. The drive there should be exciting as well. Once past Gila Bend the road will take you past the Berry Goldwater practice range for Luke Air Force Base. Then through the Ajo mountains. We will drive through the old mining town of Ajo. This is where we will probably gas up and buy the required Mexican Insurance. On with the journey, 40 more miles to the border, we will pass through the small town of Why, then through the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. I hear it's a very pretty drive. When reach and cross the border we will go through the town of Sonoyta and some 56 miles to Rocky Point.
It will be nice to lay in the sand by the ocean, and to be able to eat genuine Mexican tacos, and the now famous Shrimp Tacos. Hopefully we will be able to find a bar that has karaoke, that should be fun for a night out. Bottom line is, I love impromptu trips like this one and when the whole family comes along the fun just multiplies.
There will probably be plenty of pictures when I come back on Sunday so I'll be posting them on both my blogs, so make sure you come back and visit to see them.
