Alayna Graduates From Kindergarten.

So today I went to my granddaughter's kinder garden graduation and I was prepared to be bored as these type of ceremonies usually are, after all it's just a bunch of names being called and a certificate being passed right? Well call me Dumbo and pull my ears but this one was not a boring ceremony at all.

There must have been over 50 kids up on that stage all ready to go into first year of elementary school. So, what made this ceremony different and not boring? Well, the kids of course. These kids treated us to a mini half an hour concert of colorful songs. Some of them to Christmas music, and some to old rhymes but all very enjoyable to the ear. How is it that these many kids sang this well is beyond me, but they did.

I of course was just having too much fun with Alayna as I kept waving to her and she felt compelled to wave back each time followed by a giggle and another wave. Yes, these process was repeated constantly during the ceremony. I think she kept telling the little girl next to her, see that crazy man waving at me a lot, he's my grandpa.

They were called one by one and a folder containing all of their projects was handed to them, followed by a firm hand shake given by one of the teachers. It was so much fun to see them.

My three year old granddaughter told me she was ready to go up there too and kept bugging that she wanted to be up in the stage with the other kids. She thought she belonged up there and wanted a jump start at kinder garden pronto.

These kids have a lot to learn about life and all but I learned something from them. I learned that good behavior and loud squeaky voices make for an enjoyable graduation ceremony worthy of any high school scholar and that when you are as young as they are, the sky really is the limit.

What a thrill to be able to see my grand kids' events as they unfold. Today kinder garden, tomorrow ASU.

Tidbits From Here and There

A little princess I tell ya!

It's finally here, oh yes I was missing it but at the same time I was a little happy it was late in showing up, but after this Sunday we can no longer ignore that the triple digits mean heat. Yes, it is hot in Phoenix and the swimming pool is almost swimable (if that's a word). We should be enjoying it by this Friday. Yey!

But in my case that also means less bike rides. I may or may not venture at least one day riding to work, remember the asphalt is hotter than the actual temperature so riding in 110 degree weather is really like riding in 120 degrees. Yikes! (I spelled it correctly, right Nikki?).

So, last Saturday Alayna had her dance recital. She looked so pretty in her bright yellow outfit, and looked like the little princess (or as she says, "Princesa")that she is. Mr. Diego had a flower for her which he held through the whole show. By the way, Diego was shouting at the older girls instead of the youngest ones. Ummm! Poor, flower I thought it wouldn't survive, but it did. She of course being as girly as she is was happy to get it.

Here Diego is holding that poor little flower. It survived and Alayna was happy.

I am sure there are more things going on these days but for the most part nothing out of the ordinary. So, I will leave you with some more images from past days.

Alayna is the one in the front at the left.

Of course she had to pose with grandpa and Diego.

And a kiss for good luck, instead of break a leg. It worked because she did great.

Here is the whole family.

Alayna's Recital

Alayna Danae's dance recital. June 6, 2009

Saturday my grand daughter had her very first dance recital, we thought she was going to freeze as the event took place at a high school auditorium and it was pretty packed but to our surprise she actually did very good and the girl next to her is the one that froze. It was all very cute and I enjoyed every minute of it.

To see what I mean just CLICK HERE for my daughter's post and make sure to watch the little video she posted.
