What a Saturday!

Ah, my FatBoy is so ready to hit the road with his master.

Well, the FatBoy still did not make it to the shop but it's getting closer. Maybe by Monday at the latest it should be on it's way to being road worthy again. Too many cool rides coming up, bike nights are just popping up everywhere and I am so itching to ride.

So this morning as a warm up we drove to Arrowhead Harley Davidson just to window shop and dream a little. It is my hobby to try for size all the bikes I like but in the end I opt that my 94 FatBoy is still a great looking bike.

We got hungry so a quick stop at Hooters for hot wings was required. My oh my, what great looking wings (wink, wink) yep, can't eat just one. Spring training has started so there was a lot of traffic and add to that an Chili Cook off at Arrowhead HD and yes, there was plenty so see. But did I mentioned what great looking wings they had there?

Here's the proper way on how to eat wings, sauce all over the cheeks.

When I returned home my youngest daughter was here and she volunteer for us to go out and do something. But first I had to take a nap. lol Couple of hours and a shower later we were on our way. I chose to go to Target as I needed some things and we just totally made an outing out of it.

Nikki just being... well Nikki.

We came back home and we were on our lap tops listening to music and what not, when I decided I was hungry. Technology being as advance as it is I sent her a Facebook comment asking her if she was hungry, never mind she was only four feet away from me. She quickly replied and in a matter of minutes we were on our way. There's this place that has the best tortas around and if I was not going to have tacos it had to be those tortas. I opted for a torta de milanesa, she opted for the same except while mine was beef hers was chicken. I'm telling you these tortas are to die for. To wash them down they also sell the best aguas frescas I had a fruit punch and Nikki the melon flavor, both ummm ummm good.

So I had my cheese smile and she said it looked creepy. Ummm I just don't see it. lol

After that we said goodbye and were on our way home. What a nice Saturday filled with family and friends time.

Another Busy Saturday

So, today I woke up at 7:00 a.m. got up and was ready to start my day. So far I don't mind waking up this early on a Saturday I had a small "to do" list and I tackled it first thing in the morning.

First order of business was to make me a cup coffee and sip on it while I checked my emails and facebook, then the house cleaning started. I have cleaned the house somewhat but had not mopped in about a month so today was the day. Now it smells clean with a hint of pine sol.

My daughter got tickets to the Home and Garden show so we planned on going except the van decided to have it's brakes totally worn out to the point where it sounded like metal was rubbing metal. Not too good a sound when you press on that brake pedal. So I called my father in law and he agreed to come and fix them but he couldn't give me a specific time.

I went to pick up my daughter as I told her that even if we didn't go to the show her and ducky could spend the day with me. When I came back 45 minutes later I found my father in law already working on the brakes. Luckily they were covered under the life time warranty so I didn't pay for the replacements, but I did have to dish out a hundred bucks to replace the very worn out rotors.

It didn't take him long to install them so by 2;30 p.m. we were on our way to the fair. We spend roughly about three hours there and must have walked quite a few miles, bought a couple of gadgets and came back with many dreams and ideas of how we would like the house to look.

Immediately after coming home we left for my sister's house. Her husband and daughter were celebrating their birthdays and they had carne asada, chicken, and an array of sides such as rice, salads, beans, etc, etc, etc. All good stuff. As always the house was full of family and an endless amount of little ones running around.

I was already too tired from running around all day so I decided to bail and came back home where now I'm relaxing, blogging, and sipping on my coffee.

While we waited for my father in law to finish with the brakes, my graddson "Ducky" and I played catch for a while.

Out With The Grandkids

Spending my Saturday with the grand kids was actually pretty good. Friday we went to karaoke at Manny's and my daughter and husband joined us there. Before the night was over I had been recruited as "Ducky's" official babysitter.

Saturday I had to go pick up some equipment my brother in law bought so I took Diego and "Ducky" with me, we had to go to the other side of town so I knew it was a nice drive. On the way back the freeway entrance was closed due to some construction so I decided to take Roosevelt Ave. The nice thing about unexpected detours is finding new things and places to photograph.

There are a lot of old houses down on Roosevelt and then before you know it you are in the heart of Phoenix Historical District. So the kids found it exciting that I was stopping the van every five minutes or so just to take a photo or capture and image.

I wish I knew more about the history of this great city but the truth is that I don't really know much. But if some of these old building could talk I can just imagine the stories they would tell.

Then that same night mi chica and I got recruited to baby sit the big D and the double AAs. We decided that dinner at Wendy's would be good and affordable, it was. Chicken nuggets, and fries with ketchup for the kids and for us Wendy's really, really good Chili.

After dinner we headed for Westgate, boy they say the economy is bad but by the looks of this place you couldn't tell. It was packed with people, to find a parking spot took a little driving up an ddown the aisles. Finally we got the van parked, then took the stroller out the van, strapped the "Chapalita" in it and started walking.

Of course the kids liked everything they saw so since I was not about to buy them everything they wanted so in order for them to remember their night I decided to take a picture of them with everything they liked. Besides they were still sipping their frostys from Wendy's.

Look grandpa, I am the next at bat. Something tells me I'll hit this one out of the park.

I swear they told me who that guy in the back was but I just can't keep up with the names.

Now that I'm learning how to skateboard I wish they would take me to a skateboard store.

Surfing pair.

SATURDAY

So close and yet so far, by the time Erin called it was almost 9:00 p.m. She didn't realize that the trip from Laughlin to Phoenix would be so grueling (normally a 5-hour drive) and by the time they got to their hotel she was too tired. She was only one hour away from us but this was not to be our time to meet.

So, our weather is still hot but for some reason on Saturday we had cloudy skies and temperature dropped a bit. I was still in bed at around 11:00 a.m. when my brother in law and his four kids showed up at the house. Normally they let us know when they are coming but this time it took me totally by surprise. Once a year he comes here to play baseball, I guess his team had been playing all week long but this year work did not allow him to come for the whole tournament so as soon as he got here after a 5-hour drive from West Covina, California he headed for the City of Peoria to play his game. Five hours later he came back with the good news that his team won and that they are playing tomorrow (Sunday) for the championship. I hope they win.

Mi chica has been bombed out since Friday when she received some pretty bad news about one of her coworkers. I may come up with a post on that but in the meantime suffice to say that lives and dreams were shuttered in a matter of seconds.

Wishing you all a good rest of your weekend, and here's to hoping the Cardinals win tomorrow.
