Took Friday off as the beginning of my vacation and spent it with mi chica. The day started with an 8:00 a.m. appointment with the doctor, we got there on time and in less than a rooster sings we were out. She had another appointment with another doctor but that was at 10:00 a.m. So she took me to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe.
I had never been there but let me tell you I really dig this place, the athmosphere was great, the place is awesome, the decor kept me looking at every wall (collecting lots of ideas) and the food was affordable and best of all it was very good. I know I'll be going back soon.
We finished with just enough time to make it to her appointment. There the wait was longer but once inside it only took like five minutes. So, now we are done and we are fed so what to do, I know let's go to my favorite store Khol's, I really like this store and always find clothes I like. Today everything and I mean everything in the store was on sale, I bought two jackets I had seen before but thought were expensive at half price, how awesome is that?
Mi chica bought a bunch of other things all at great prices, and great savings. We finally got home at past 1:00 p.m. Oh but not before stopping at Wally World for a few items. There I found out I don't know how to use the self pay machines, so I will only use those when I go by myself to keep practicing.
In the afternoon we went to Manny's for dinner and karaoke but took three of the grankids and that was not a good idea. That's OK we learn as we go. lol
So, I'll be off all next week and I'm sure I'll be working around the house. Cleaning the garage is the biggest priority and I'm sure I'll be blogging about the before and after. So stay tunned.
Tomorrow is Sindi and Chir's baby shower, so that will be another nice family gathering we'll be having so stay tunned for that too.
Have a terrific weekend.

Movie Night
I should have a peaceful quiet weekend, the younger crowd in this family is camping and mi chica has to go to work which means I should catch up on some of my chores, run some errands, and go exchange a couple of items at the store. The car needs washing and so do our house windows but I don't know if I'll get to those.
I'm watching "The Circuit", a cheese karate movie with Olivier Gruner, no plot other than the underground illegal fights where the hero always save the day at the end. Yeah, for stupid plots with lots of action and fighting sequences. Wax on, wax off, wax... oh excuse me wrong movie.
I am now into the second feature. "Exit Speed", another cheese action type movie. The info. info. read as follows: Ten bus passengers become stranded and must fight off murderous bikers from inside a scrap yard. At first I thought it would be the outlaw kindda bikers but this movie turned out to be young bikers on rice burners doing tricks and killing for no reason at all. Lea Thompson is on this one.
Sometimes it's just fun to watch B movies, stupid as they may be sometimes they are fun.

Friday

This morning I got the car out from the garage and realized that the weather was perfect for top down so I drove in to work topless. Traffic is still very light, even with the kids back to school there are no big traffic jams, it's been a very enjoyable 35 minute drive every morning for the past 8 months or so.

In the saga of Diego's texting, yesterday we found a new target. I dialed my daughter's number and gave the phone to him. He immediately started with the normal phrases he already knows such as "I love you" except he wrote "i love you teeoncol = I love you tia Nichole" next he wrote "i am haflo hiu timithello" (This one I couldn't transalte - lol), then he wrote "i sedtelmiselloyo ised hiy = I said tell my tio Loyiel I said hi" (oh, now I know what he said in the previous text) then he wrote "yes but i amyooseg ni gapfon wino" (I never knew Diego could write German).
NextI know my phone rings and it's Nikki, except the call drops so mi chica calls her for me on her phone and passes it to me.
Nikki: Hi Dad
Me: Hi baby, did you call me?
Nikki: Yes, I did
Me: Did you like texting Diego?
Nikki: Diego? No wonder! Now it makes sense, I though it was you. (Probably thought I had forgotten how to write).
Once I told her the texts were from Diego all of a sudden she could read them. Ummm, we need to find a new target today for Diego to text. Who'll be next?
My allergies are back and are kicking my butt... achoo!

Time

It is Friday once again
The days go by too fast
I sometimes regret the days wasted
And wonder of the ones to come.
Why is time so darn important
After all we are not being charged
Because time is a hot commodity
That once gone it won't come back
So waste your time on trivial things
Or make you time a petty life
Or use it to your best advantage
And always use it as if it the last
For time is the equalizer
Time is what makes you wise
Time is what you think you have a lot of
And then realize it's not enough
So now we reach another weekend
I will make it a good time
Time to be spent with my family
A family that grows with time
Think of time as the great companion
Because time will not leave you behind
Hand in hand into the future
A future that will come in time.

Karaoke Goes on Hiatus
Finally today I made it to karaoke at Manny's which was in a way kindda bitter sweet because today was the last day as summer has let us know it's here and the patio just gets too hot. I hear it will resume back in September when the heat is gone.
For one reason or another I had not been able to go the past two Fridays so today I got even. Even with the big group on hand I was still able to squeeze five songs. I made new fans, new friends, and new attempts at singing songs I had not sang yet. Even though it was hot it wasn't uncomfortably hot. Since I'm not drinking (doctor's orders) I only had a couple of diet cokes and nibbled on some tortilla chips and salsa.
Our core group is there every Friday and I know that they all look forward to karaoke night. Most of them are the coolest senior citizens you'll ever meet. I, at almost 50 years of age feel like the new kid in town. One of said group members is moving back east to Washington or some place like that and so next week there will be a gathering to bid him farewell. Yes some karaoke will be involved, because well that's how we roll.
Well it's all good because maybe now I participate in some of the car club's activities. There's a third Friday outing every month where the club reserves a portion of a dinner's parking lot and while our ponies are on display we get to eat and socialize. Since this year marks my tenth anniversary as a member I want to be a little more active.
Whatever I decide to do I am sure I'll be posting about it so keep coming back.

Stimulating the economy

Yey, it's Friday and I will be going to my favorite karaoke hangout tonight. I figure a couple of drinks and some food will inject some revenue into Manny's. These days every dollar counts. Should be lots of fun, the Phoenix/Avondale weather can't be better and the music that is going on in my head is dying to come out. So... with that in mind and with not much happening in our lives I live you with another song I did some time ago.
OK, so Norah Jones I'm not, but hey I really like this Spanish version so I had to do it. Tomorrow a couple I met at Manny's is hosting a karaoke party at their house. Should be another good time and coming up on Sunday it's my son and his lovely wife's House Warming Party.
I hope you too have a great weekend planned.

El Weekend
Well it's finally Friday, I am excited because we are going to Manny's tonight for some Mexican food and a little karaoke. Mi chica and I went last week and had a great time, tonight a couple of her friends may join us. It should be fun.
Add to that a change in weather and it should be a great night. The temperature is no longer over a 100 degrees, actually the nights are nippy at 80 degrees. I am just not used to cold weather so even when it drops just a little under the three digits I start thinking jackets and sweat shirts. Yeah, I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather.
So, what should I sing tonight, I am open for suggestions.
Tomorrow a friend from work is getting married and we are invited. That should be a good time too. Then my daughter's birthday is on the 24th so she is having a get together at the house and the theme is Halloween. Depending on how much fun we are having at the wedding reception we may just come home early to join the family... But we'll see.
By the way, my car broke down again. Same thing as last week, we know it's electrical so it could be the ignition switch, the starter, or a short caused by the alarm. I just hope it fix is not too expensive.
Anyway that is the plan for the weekend. Sunday remains open for whatever. What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, have a great and safe one.
Correction: Michelle's birthday is the 22nd, and mi chica's and my anniversary is on the 24th. (I knew that, I was just testing you to see if you were paying attention). lol
